Rylan Clark Neal has revealed a big detail about the upcoming Supermarket Sweep reboot.

The 30-year-old TV presenter will be taking over the role of host/supermarket manager from the late Dale Winton when the iconic 90s show returns next month.

He appeared on This Morning on Friday to talk about his upcoming role, where he also shared new details about what fans can expect.

He explained that all of the products in the store are real food – but it doesn’t go to waste at the end of filming.

He said:

“One thing that is amazing, which I want to make sure people know, is that every few days we donate the food to food banks.

“So for TV purposes we want everything looking pristine, but there’s still three, four, five weeks on that fresh produce that is all great, so we donate it.

“It’s all real, it’s all fresh. We [restock] every three or four days, all of the products that are perishable but are ‘best before’, they don’t go to waste.”

The presenter told of his excitement about the upcoming series, as he explained that he had been a massive fan of the series growing up.

He added:

“I grew up on Supermarket Sweep. I remember whenever I used to be ill, off from primary school – it used to be Supermarket Sweep and then Sunset Beach on Channel 5.”

  • Supermarket Sweep starts Monday 9 September at 8pm on ITV2 with new store manager Rylan Clark-Neal.
