The Script suing James Arthur over song copyright claims

The Script are suing James Arthur over claims that he copied their song, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved. 

The band have claimed that the former X Factor winner’s track, Say You Won’t Let Go, if a rip off of their hit from 2008.

Arthur has denied the claim.

TMZ reports that Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan, as well as co-writers Andrew Frampton and Stephen Kipnave, have filed a lawsuit against James for copyright infringement.

The band members and writers have said that she songs have almost “identical” beats and melodies.

This is The Script’s song from 2008.

It appeared on their first self-titled studio album and reached number two in Ireland.

This is James Arthur’s song, released in 2016.

The song reached number one in Ireland.

Say You Won’t Let Go is the lead single from Arthur’s second studio album.

The track has also been linked as being similar to Adele’s Someone Like You.
