A Scrubs reboot could be on the way soon

Katy Brennan

It’s looking likely.

If you were a fan of Scrubs back in the day then we’ve got some good news – the team behind the hit US comedy are up for a revival in the near future.

The iconic early ’00s show followed the life of medical intern John Dorian aka JD (Zach Braff) as he started his career in a hospital full of quirky staff and patients.

When it ended over 10 years ago, fans were left wondering if they’d ever see their favourite on-screen doctors again.

Now, Donald Faison, who played Chris Turk on the show, has said it could definitely be on the cards.

“I think we all want it,” he said at a panel at ATX TV Festival. “We all would love to work together again.”

As exciting as it sounds, however, Faison acknowledged it’d be difficult to get everyone on the same schedule because they’re all busy with different projects.

“It’s just that it’s really hard,” Faison said. “It can’t be a full season of a show – it would have to be a movie or something like that, where you could only give a couple of months to it. Everyone is doing things.”

He continued: “We’re gonna do it because we’re lucky enough that people care.

“Top to bottom, we enjoy spending time with each other. If you ever have an excuse to work with people that you’d want to spend time with anyways, run to it.”

It comes not too long after Braff teased a reboot himself. On his podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends, which he co-hosts with Faison, he said:

“I think it would be fun for us to all do something like that. We just have to get Disney to be into it and Bill Lawrence to be into it.

“I think it will happen, the fans seem to really want it to happen.”

All seasons of Scrubs are available to stream on Disney+ now.
