Serena Williams on the cover of Vanity Fair has blown us away

Just stunning.

It’s all kinds of iconic.

Saying Serena Williams is impressive is an understatement; She’s an untouchable female athlete, a role model to young girls and women alike AND she gives some great clap back (yes John McEnroe… we’re looking at you).

This month the pregnant athlete is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair and is as candid as ever as she discusses her romance with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. After a whirlwind romance following a chance meeting Alexis said he knew pretty instantly that he wanted to marry her:

“I felt like a door had been opened to a person who made me want to be my best self. . . . I find myself just wanting to be better by simply being around her because of the standard she holds.”

Serena found out she was pregnant when she was in Melbourne gearing up for the Australian Open.  Already engaged, the news came as a shock to the loved-up pair and after being cleared by a doctor she continued with the tournament (she, of course, won the whole blimmin’ thing at 8 weeks pregnant).

Months later she told VF journalist Buzz Bissinger that for a long time it didn’t seem real:

“If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world. This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later, and it’s going by so fast.”

And of course, she adds that she has big plans to return to Tennis as soon as she can.

We wouldn’t expect anything less.
