Shania Twain finally reveals why Brad Pitt didn’t impress her much

She insists she wasn't picking on him with the lyrics.

It's been almost 20 years since Shania Twain released That Don't Impress Me Much. We're just going to leave this here and let that sink in for a minute. The catchy pop country 1998 hit included the line: "Okay, so you're Brad Pitt/That don't impress me much!" And the now the singer finally dished on what it was about Brad that wasn't impressive. She explained to Billboard:

“I remember I had a girlfriend visiting me and it was near Christmas and we were baking cookies. “I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him. “And this was like, all the rage. “I just thought, ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’ I’m like, well that don’t impress me much, I mean, what is all the fuss?”

The 1997 photo scandal happened after Playgirl published nude photos of the actor. He later successfully sued the magazine over the photo set. But the You're Still the One singer insists she "wasn't picking on Brad" with the lyrics. She continued:

“We see people naked every day. “That’s really what I thought. I wasn’t picking on Brad Pitt. "But that was just the association in that moment and things we make fusses about and whatever. “Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy.”
