And it looks like audiences are already excited to get to see the short film, with many emotional just at the thought.
"Domee Shi, a storyboard artist who, with Bao, becomes Pixar’s first female short director in the studio’s history, was inspired to write and tell a story flavored by her upbringing as the only child to Chinese immigrants." https://t.co/vbnoLEtqz8

So happy to see more asian american representation in the media. On top of that, Domee Shi is the first woman at Pixar to direct a short. Bao seems so wholesome, cute, and relatable. Props to Pixar, really hoping to see more of this ❤️ (also, hooray for women in animation!!!) https://t.co/qXOuyScMJr

Domee Shi, a storyboard artist, becomes Pixar’s first female short director thanks to the film and says the film was inspired by her desire to tell a story that touched on aspects of her upbringing as a child of Chinese immigrants.
“Often times it felt like my mom would treat me like a precious little dumpling, wanting to make sure I was safe, that I didn’t go out late, all that stuff,” Shi told EW.
“I just wanted to create this magical, modern-day fairy tale, kind of like a Chinese Gingerbread Man story.”
Can’t wait for you all to see Pixar’s newest short — “Bao” — directed by Domee Shi. It’s REALLY GREAT!! https://t.co/uxTZ3ApWAM pic.twitter.com/f3c4KD51YU
