EastEnders is going to kill off one of the original characters… Nick Cotton.
According to Digital Spy, Dot Branning (June Brown) will be left heartbroken later this month when the police inform her that her son Nick (John Altman) is dead.
The situation won’t be helped by the fact that Dot had an opportunity to reconcile with her estranged son weeks ago, a chance that was squandered thanks to Poppy.
But there is a silver lining to all of this as Nick’s eldest son Charlie (Declan Bennett), who Dot is unaware even exists, is set to arrive on the square.
Nick is one of the soap’s best villains and has been in it since the first episode back in 1985. His last onscreen appearance was in 2009.
