Documents have emerged that state Steven Avery believes Teresa Halbach’s real killers could be incredibly close to home.
A 2009 court filing obtained by The Wrap stated that Avery said that brothers Charles and Earl Avery, as well as nephew Bobby Dassey and brother-in-law Scott Tadych, had motive and the ability to kill Halbach.
The 59-page document compiled by Avery’s attorneys, state reasons Avery believes his family members are responsible for Halbach’s death. Reasons include their wanting to frame Steven for the crime. The document also contains information about Charles Avery’s history of violence against women.
It states the brothers wanted to “frame Steven over money, a share of the family business, and over Jodi Stachowski,” Steven’s former girlfriend.
The document implies the same for Earl Avery, who had been charged with sexually assaulting his two daughters in 1995.
The document also states the belief that Scott Tadych could also have been involved. It reveals his “motive to kill Ms. Halbach is his violent and volatile personality,” and “previous experiences with the court system show him to be a violent and impulsive person, particularly towards women.”
