Twenty years after the release of the original, Disney is making another sequel to animated classic The Lion King. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Lion Guard will be a television movie to be released in 2015 and will be followed by a television series to be screened in early 2016 on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.
The series will be aimed towards children aged two and seven and their families, telling the story of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, who assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands.
