Suits will be coming to an end after its next season.

USA Network announced on Wednesday that it had renewed the legal drama for a 10-episode season nine. The news was announced shortly before the second half of season 8 premieres in North America, and ahead of the spin-off series, Pearson. The series first launched in 2011, with hotshot lawyer Harvey Specter taking a gamble and hiring Mike Ross - an incredibly smart but not totally legitimate college dropout - as an associate at his firm. Mike ended up quickly impressing the rest of his colleagues - including Jessica Pearson, Louis Litt, and Donna Paulsen - and fell in love with the law firm's best paralegal, Rachel Zane.

A lot has changed over the years - including some of the key cast members - and Suits now centers on an evolved firm led by Harvey, Louis, secretary-turned-COO Donna, plus Robert Zane. The firm continues to tackle top corporate cases with the support of the formidable Alex Williams, undeniably talented Katrina Bennett, and new addition to the team, powerhouse attorney Samantha Wheeler. Together, these top minds rely on their knowledge, wit and intuition to keep their clients at bay and the firm afloat.

The end of the legal drama will come two years after original stars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle exited the show. Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment said at the time:

“After seven seasons, Suits remains one of USA Network’s most beloved and popular series. “While we’re excited for Season 8, everyone at USA will deeply miss Patrick and Meghan, and are grateful for the talent and commitment they brought to Suits season after season. We wish each of them nothing but the very best.”

Meanwhile, Aaron Korsh - who created the series - added:

"I would like to thank Patrick and Meghan for their extraordinary contributions over the last seven years. Not only have they been outstanding in their roles as Mike and Rachel, they are also superb human beings who will always be beloved members of the Suits family, and we wish them well in their days to come.”
