Ten observations about the season opener of The Great British Bake-Off

What did we all think?

There's a lot to digest (yes, pun intended) after all of that, but there are a few things that stood out to us about the first episode of The Great British Bake-Off on Channel 4. https://twitter.com/Marcus_Gomezz/status/902607286866206729 Here they are.  

• Paul is high – there’s no other explanation for him handing out so many Hollywood handshakes on the first task of the first show.
• It must sound LOVELY inside the tent with rain pattering off its clear plastic sides in the dark.
• Bin-gate is back! Our inner mammy is shrieking at the fact that good food went in the bin.
• We are HERE for the ad breaks - if watching that Russian doll being opened didn’t leave you parched for a cup of tea then who are you?
• Who knew that the middle of a mini-roll was peppermint flavoured?
• Sandi handing Noel a mixing bowl and him promptly collapsing is the most brilliant piece of visual comedy we’re likely to see in this lifetime. It’s what pause-and-rewind telly was created for.
• The raw sexual energy between Prue and Liam is reason enough to tune in next week.
• 
• Tom is this year’s Candice – quiet but stealthily brilliant, a slow-burner. Expecting him to rock a berry lip from next week.
• Get Flo her own show. Or at the very least get her on Chris and Kem’s Love Island spinoff. We want to see her playfully waggle a wooden spoon at the boys.
• Either Peter was making some kind of statement or had never seen the show before. Disregarding the rules for the technical was sacrilege, even if the show was on Channel 4.
