You'll know the name too!

Brendan Murray will represent Ireland in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Brendan, whom you might recognise as a member of boyband Hometown, appeared on tonight’s Late Late Show and sang Eurovision classic, Johnny Logan’s Hold Me Now.

Mayo man, Louis Walsh, is Brendan’s manager and has said that songwriters hoping to have their work considered for the winning song can submit entries to RTÉ from now until Monday 16th January.

Louis and a panel chosen by RTÉ will select the Irish entry, which will then be performed by Brendan on the Late Late early next year.

Speaking about the news, Brendan, who hails from Tuam, Co. Galway, said:

“I’m honoured and excited to be representing Ireland in Kyiv in the biggest music competition in the world. I’m really looking forward to it.

“I was born in 1996 the last time Ireland won, so I hope that will bring me luck! But most of all, I’m really excited about finding a great song that I can take to the Eurovision stage and give it my all”.

Hometown announced they were taking a break earlier this month and now, it’s clear the boys are ready to pursue solo projects.
