The Fault in Our Stars might be John Green’s final book

Megan Roantree

Nooo.

The bestselling book The Fault in Our Stars was written almost five years ago, and while it was very popular while it was first released, the feature film which followed it saw it become a firm favourite among young people every where.

The author of the book, John Green, was relatively well known before the film came out, he wrote other popular books such as Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns.

But fans of the author may not be happy to learn that he may not release any more books, according to his most recent vlog.

He talks about struggling to write after the massive success of The Fault in Our Stars and none of his new ideas working.

“Somewhere in that period, my job stopped being ‘Person Who Writes Books’ – which is a present-tense job title, and became ‘Person Who Wrote That One Book’ – which is a past-tense job title.” He said.

“I was grateful that The Fault in Our Stars was reaching so many readers but at the same time I was terrified because I felt like I could never follow it up.” He added.

He details several books he began and failed to finish.

“I missed writing, but in the way you miss someone you used to love,” he said.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever publish another book, and if I do I don’t know if people will like it.” He said.

If you’re a massive fan of the author, this might not be the best news, but who knows, he may find inspiration soon and write another incredible book. He’s not ruling it out.
