Lara Croft was an inspiration to many of us as little girls.
She was one boss ass bitch who kicked baddies’ asses on the daily and it definitely didn’t help my idolisation that she was smart, strong and sexy.
While boys had James Bond to aspire to, Lara Croft was a the spy, the ninja, the assassin and the girl to save the day every time. GOALS.
Fans will remember the role was filled by Angelina Jolie in the films Tomb Raider in 2001, followed by Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003.
However in the new reboot directed Roar Uthbeg, the role will be reprised by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander.
While it was widely rumoured that Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley may take up the role, Oscar-winner Vikander was confirmed to play the role of British adventurer Lara Croft.
You may recognise Vikander from films such as Ex-Machina, The Man from U.N.C.L.E and The Danish Girl.
The project will be co-produced by MGM and Warner Bros., with MGM overseeing production.
Fans on Twitter responded to the news, with most reacting positively to the new face of Croft.
I am so hyped for Alicia Vikander to play Lara Croft!

Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider?
Between this and Assassin’s Creed, we may be entering an age of good video game-movies.
