The Academy have today released their full list of nominees for this year’s Oscars which will take place on the 28th of February.
The Irish are VERY well represented with several nominations across different categories.
Saoirse Ronan is nominated in the Best Actress category for Brooklyn (the film is also up for Best Picture); Room directed by Lenny Abrahamson, is up for Best Picture, and Abrahamson could be in with a chance at scooping the Best Director award.
The other nominees for Best Actress include Jennifer Lawrence, Brie Larson, Cate Blanchett, and Charlotte Rampling.
Michael Fassbender is also in the running for Best Actor for his portrayal of the controversial Apple founder in Steve Jobs.
Fassbender will be joined be Leonardo DiCaprio, Eddie Redmayne, Bryan Cranston, and Matt Damon.
Best Picture nominees include: The Big Short, The Martian,Mad Max:Fury Road, Room, The Revenant, Spotlight, Bridge Of Spies and Brooklyn.
