The Wachowskis’ “Jupiter Ascending” Pushed Back To February 2015

Sue Murphy

One of the films that we were particularly excited about this summer was the Jupiter Ascending which announced the return of the brilliant Wachowskis, they of The Matrix fame.

However, it has been announced today that the project has been pushed back from its original July release date to an opening of February 2015.

According to Empire, even though the film is in full promotional swing, it has been rumoured that the release date was a little too ambitious for the special effects team currently working on the film.

Interestingly, this moves the film firmly out of the summer blockbuster market and into, what is considered by many, a dead zone in the lead up to the Oscars. While there has been no official word that the studios are any less confident in the final product, this doesn’t bode well for the project.

However, Empire is also reporting that given the sheer scale of the project, it’s completely understandable that this is going to take a little more time.

Here’s the trailer if you happen to have missed it.
