It is a romantic time of year but one pair that we really didn't expect to get together this Christmas are Coronation Street's Bethany Platt and Craig Tinker. Craig, played by Colson Smith, has had feelings for best friend Bethany (Lucy Fallon) for months but has never acted on them - until this week. Craig comes clean during what he thinks is a date with Bethany but it backfires as she doesn't reciprocate his feelings, leaving him devastated. To his surprise, Bethany will reveal that she's had a change of heart later this month. In the soap's Stephen's Day episode, she tells him she wants to be together, but is worried about getting into a relationship given everything she's been through. They do decide to give it a go though, as show producer Kate Oates confirmed to Radio Times. "In news that should gladden the heart of even the most Scrooge-like curmudgeon – Bethany will embark on a tentative romance with Craig. Glad tidings indeed!" she said. Poor Bethany has had a bleak time on Corrie - she was groomed and abused by older man Nick and assaulted by a number of his friends in the recent past but has made an effort to move on. Hopefully a positive relationship with caring Craig will help further her recovery.
