Oooh, this sounds so good.

After an almost-two-year-long wait, Game of Thrones’ final season is almost here.

The six-episode season eight will debut on April 14 in North America, and April 15 in Ireland the UK.

And while there aren’t many details yet on what is going to be happening (OK, there are no details), we do know one thing: it’s going to be incredibly emotional once it does end.

Thankfully, HBO have confirmed a special treat for Game of Thrones fans after the final episode airs.

A two-hour documentary, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, will air on Sunday, May 26 at 9pm in North America – one week after the season eight finale.

An air date has not been announced for viewers in Ireland and the UK.

It will dive “deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life.”

The description reads:

“Debuting Sunday 26 May, one week after the series finale, the two-hour documentary delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland.

“Made with unprecedented access, The Last Watch is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.

“Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world — and then have to say goodbye to it.”
