Calling all Riverdale fans.
Following on from
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - a "companion" series to
Riverdale, which airs on Netflix - a brand new
Riverdale spinoff has been announced.
A pilot order was given to a series based on the Archie Comics character Katy Keane, a fashion-legend-to-be, and her pals as they chase " their twenty-something dreams in New York City".
According to
The Hollywood Reporter, the musical dramedy would focus on the origins and struggles of four Archie Comics characters, aspiring artists who are trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who created
Riverdale and
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will write the script alongside Michael Grassi.
Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter earlier this week to celebrate the Archie - and
Riverdale - universe expanding once again.

He said:
"The #Riverdale universe expands!
"Thrilled to be bringing the adventures of Katy Keene and her New York pals to life! Extra-thrilled to be doing this with my pal Michael Grassi."
And while it hasn't been revealed yet if any of our favourite Riverdale or Greendale residents would be popping up in the new series, we reckon the creators will definitely find a way to hide a few easter eggs.
Other series' which were given pilot orders from the C.W. including a Nancy Drew reboot from the creators of the O.C.; the drama,
Lost Boys; and the
Jane The Virgin spin-off,
Jane the Novela.
A premier date for the Katy Keane series has not been announced yet.
