This is the character who will die in Coronation Street’s ‘intense’ New Year’s twist

The Christmas season, for the most part, is meant to be light, happy and festive.

Which is pretty much just what the residents of Weatherfield need after this year, after 2018 seemed to bring nothing but misery, murder and mayhem to Coronation Street.

After Iain MacLeod, the long-running soap’s show runner, promised light and fun episodes for the holiday season, it looks like it won’t be long until the cobbles are thrown into chaos.

Coronation Street are said to be getting ready for an “intense” storyline in early 2019, which will see a character killed off in “a bloodbath”.

As for the unlucky character? It is reportedly none other than Lewis Archer.

A source told The Sun:

“The intense plot will play out over the New Year. Nigel always knew he wouldn’t last long on the Cobbles when he signed up to return and what a way to make an exit.”

The conman, played by Nigel Havers, has been in-and-out of Weatherfield for almost a decade – and recently returned to sweet talk himself back into Audrey’s good books.

Her family and friends haven’t been too happy about his return (or that he’s schemed his way back into her affections) – and based off of the Christmas preview, it doesn’t look like they have warmed up to him too much.
