We would LOVE to see this.

It was announced earlier this week that Slane Castle will, once again, play host to a massive concert in 2019.

The news was confirmed by the owner, Lord Henry Mountcharles during an interview on LMFM’s Late Lunch radio show on Thursday afternoon.

He said that he is currently finalising negotiations with the band – who, apparently, have never played the Meath venue before.

The gig will take place in June 2019.

Despite how recently the news was confirmed, there is already a few frontrunners for who will take to the stage.

Coldplay are currently the early favourites at 13/8, according to Boylesports, following the success of their sold-out Dublin stop on the A Head Full of Dreams tour last year.

The Killers and Radiohead are tied as the second favourites to book the sought after gig, with Muse next on offer at 7/2.

Rounding out the top five contenders is Fleetwood Mac, who are next in the betting at 6/1.

Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented:

“Slane is back next year and although Lord Henry is keeping his cards close to his chest about who will headline the concert, he has stated that it is a band that hasn’t played there before.

“Coldplay are 13/8 favourites to take over the stage in County Meath and are obvious choices following the success of their sell out tour last year.”
