Viewers express outrage after This Morning presenter’s homophobic comment about Rylan Clark Neal

"There's banter and then there's homophobia."

Viewers were not impressed.

This Morning is known by viewers for often being light-hearted and fun but a comment made by Ruth Langsford came under fire from many viewers for going too far.

The show hosted a cooking segment, and the meal of the day was Cottage Pie. “Buy a good mince meat, and here’s a tip, pay a bit extra for it,” Chef Brian Turner said.

“Go into the butcher’s and say, ‘I’d like a pound and a half of that meat. Now, will you mince it for me?’ Get them to mince it while you’re there.”

Eamonn Holmes then said: “If you know a good mincer, that’s the place to go to.”

To which Ruth replied: “Where has Rylan gone, by the way?”

For those of you who aren’t aware, ‘Mincer’ is a slang term, more popularly used in Britain to describe a gay man, and is often seen as derogatory.

Although she looked slightly surprised at herself after saying it, Brian replied, “Do you know, I daren’t say that. I’m glad you did.”

Viewers took to twitter to express their concern over the presenter using the term to describe Rylan.
