The reason you won’t see much of Tom Hardy’s face in Dunkirk this weekend

We don't support this decision.

It feels like everyone’s got tickets to Dunkirk this weekend.

*Don’t worry, no spoilers here*

Yes, it’s the must-see movie of the moment and if you’ve not already seen it, you better be planning on it if you don’t want to be left out of every conversation in the office kitchen for the next month.

If your arm needed more twisting, then the appearance of Tom Hardy’s name in the cast listings might be enough to do it.

However, don’t get too excited, as you won’t be seeing a whole lot of the actors (gorgeous) face in the hit movie.

This is Christopher Nolan’s third time casting the British actor in one of his movies, previously picking him for the role of Eames in Inception and Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

And one thing that remains the same for Hardy’s character in Dunkirk as it did in The Dark Knight Rises is that his face is pretty much completely covered.

However, Nolan says there is a reason for his decision.

“I was pretty thrilled with what he did in The Dark Knight Rises with two eyes, a couple of eyebrows and a bit of a forehead,” the director told the Press Association.

“So, I thought, ‘Let’s see what he can do with no forehead, no real eyebrows and maybe one eye’.”

While Nolan’s humorous response might be true, the character’s role as a Royal Air Force pilot might have also played a part.
