“Total Media Whores” – X Factor Winner Slams Cheryl and Mel B

Someone clearly isn't a fan.

He has never made a secret of the fact that he’s no longer a fan of The X Factor, but we have to say we were a little surprised at what Steve Brookstein said on Twitter last night.

The singer, who won the show back in 2004, appeared to go on a bit of a rant after last night’s results show during which Jay James got eliminated after the sing-off against Stevi Ritchie.

Not only did he say that Jay “deserved” to go out, after not taking heed of his warnings, but he also took aim at judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B, branding them “media whores.”

Here are his tweets:

Less than nine months after being crowned the winner back in 2004, Steve and Syco (Simon Cowell’s record label) parted ways. Since then, he has continued with his music and recently released a new book called Getting Over The X.

He has also managed to remain in the spotlight having spoken out on various occasions about his time on and after the show.

In 2010, he told the Daily Mail: “It’s amazing how many doors close when you part company with Cowell. It’s almost like leaving a mafia family… Because he’s so powerful, it’s virtually impossible to get any attention once he’s lost interest.”

He added: “When I look back on it all, I’ve no doubt I should have stuck with what I was doing before The X Factor — and I’d probably have been better off.”
