He thought the movie was brilliant, just not for him.
Will Smith has admitted to turning down the role of Django in Oscar-winning film Django Unchained from director Quentin Tarantino.
The Men In Black actor said there is no hard feelings over the role, which eventually went to Jamie Foxx.
“Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead, the other character was the lead!" Will told Entertainment Weekly.

The Fresh Prince actor was Tarantino's first choice for the Oscar-winning film.
“I thought [the movie] was brilliant. Just not for me,” Smith added.
Smith told Empire magazine before that he had a scheduling conflict with Men In Black III and that was why he refrained from taking the role.
Director Quentin Tarantino admitted that Will Smith was his first choice for the acting role.
