Philomena is based on a true story and adapted from the book, The Lost Child Of Philomena Lee: A Mother, Her Son And A 50 Year Search.
The touching movie stars Judi Dench and Steve Coogan in lead roles in a film that’s bound to pull some heart-strings.
Philomena Lee (Judi Dench) became pregnant in 1950s Ireland and ended up giving birth at a Catholic home for unmarried mothers.
The nuns made her give the child up for adoption and her son was sent to America. Lee was also forced to sign a pledge that she would never find out what happened to him.
The movie documents her journey to find her son.
"The film is a comic tragedy or a tragic comedy,” said Coogan.
“It's about two very different people, at different stages of their lives, who help each other and show that there is laughter even in the darkest places."
Philomena will be in cinemas from November 1st.
