Ad for new horror film The Nun banned from YouTube for being too scary

Ah, god.

There are few pieces of content that YouTube will outright take down.

Videos containing nudity is one example. Footage of Alex Jones ranting and raving on his channel is another. And apparently, another is this ad for new horror movie, The Nun.

The film, a spinoff of the popular The Conjuring franchise, followed a (you guessed it) dead nun as she terrorises a group of priests and some other people too near the Vatican.

(We didn’t even have to read the movie synopsis for that.)

Variety reports that YouTube has decided to remove the ad from its platform because it violates their “violent and shocking content in ads” policy.

Honestly though, how scary could it be?

Post-viewing of the trailer, we can confirm that, yeah OK, the trailer is scary and definitely leads you into a false sense of security believing that the volume on your MacBook is being lowered before the elusive nun appears and scares the sh*t out of you.

Plus, the footage was appearing as an autoplay ad before videos, so we can absolutely understand why YouTube had to take it down.

You should only have to be scared sh*tless if you want to be scared sh*tless, in fairness.

The Nun is out in Irish cinemas next month.
