The Crown may have found their Prince Phillip.

Paul Bettany is said to be “in talks” to play Prince Phillip over the next two seasons of The Crown.

The popular Netflix drama will be given an overhaul for its third season, with the three main roles being recast ahead of a time jump.

It has been announced that Olivia Colman will be playing Queen Elizabeth II, taking over the role from Claire Foy.

Meanwhile, Helena Bonham Carter is reported to be “all but confirmed” to take over the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby.

According to Daily Mail journalist Baz Bamigboye, “talks are ongoing” for Paul Bethany to take over the role from Matt Smith.

If an agreement is reached between the two sides, he would be signing on for series’ three and four of the Netflix drama.

It comes as Matt Smith opened up about his disappointment about having his role recast, admitting he was was worried he wouldn’t “land as great a part again.”

He told Heat magazine:

“I’d be lying if I said I’m not disappointed. I’m scared I’ll never land as great a part again. But there’s an excitement to being able to pass the baton on.”
