Turns out two of the Love Is Blind contestants knew each other before the show.
Over the last few weeks the unscripted Netflix series has become one of our not-so-guilty pleasures.
Basically, it involves a group of singletons who – in an effort to be loved for who are they are, rather than what they look like – sign up for an unconventional approach to dating: meeting the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, without ever seeing them.
After getting engaged, they meet for the first time – and then head back into the real world, where they see if they can turn their emotional connection into a physical one, as they plan their wedding day.
While in the pods, the 30 contestants were all living together – and seemed to be getting pretty close. However, it turns out that two of the contestants actually knew each other before their time on the show – and for quite a while, too.
Jessica Batten and Kelly Chase left fans stunned when they revealed that they had actually known each other for ten years.
During a recent Q&A [via Cosmopolitan], Jessica was asked if she had known Kelly before the show.
“I’ve known Kel for 10 years,” Jessica replied, before sharing a throwback photo of the two of them.

Kelly was later asked the same question by a fan [via The Mirror], where she explained that she and Jessica had met “ten or 11 years ago from an ex boyfriend’s same social circle”.
Fans were confused that their seemingly long friendship (or just the fact that they knew each other) was never addressed on the show. However, considering all of the contestants were living in Atlanta at the time, that does increase the possibility of at least some of them knowing each other.
