Twitter watched through their fingers as Ryan Tubridy and Nigella Lawson battled their way through a dreadfully awkward interview on last night’s Late Late Show.
The pair seemed to get off on the wrong foot, after Ryan referred to the in-house band’s cover of Sugar, Sugar, commenting on how much Nigella likes the sweet stuff.
There was a chill in the air as she answered stony-faced: “Well, not particularly.”
Yikes.
Poor oul Ryan was grasping at straws after that, as the pair chatted about weight issues, Nigella’s late mother and her new book.
He even pulled out two Nutella jars with their names on them side by side, joking: “I thought we could be jarred together. That’s the last time we’ll be side by side like that”, to which she replied “that’s really nice.”
Wow.
Not surprisingly, Twitter was quick to vent about the “awkward” “awful” interview…
#LateLateShow interview with Nigella Lawson was weird. Very awkward, seemed uncomfortable in the company of a confident attractive woman.
