Earlier this week, it was confirmed who would host the RTÉ show.

Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram confirmed that they will be the hosts of the new show.

The Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing is set to begin in January and run until March.

The rumour mill has been in overdrive speculating who will appear on the first season of the show, with names such as Des Bishop, RTE reporter Teresa Mannion, GAA player Aidan O’Mahony, Irish Big Brother star Hughie Maughan and model Thalia Heffernan all being linked to the show.

The two latest celebrities to join the show are actresses Aoibhín Garrihy and Denise McCormack.

Aoibhín, or as we better know her as Neasa Dillon from Fair City, confirmed the news.

“I am so delighted to be involved in the very first Irish Dancing with the Stars and all its glittering glory…

“So far, the experience has been amazing and I’m really enjoying every minute of it! Here’s to a delightful few months of dancing!”

Also joining Aoibhín on the show will be IFTA-award winning actress Denise, or as some people may recognise her, Linda from Love/Hate. She spoke of her delight to be starring on the show:

“I am thrilled to be taking part in Dancing with the Stars, It’s such a privilege as I have always loved dancing, I did a bit as a kid but to learn it professionally is a whole new challenge”

Dancing With The Stars begins on RTÉ 1 on January 8th.
