The original film was a box office hit, raking up $440 million and winning an Oscar for best adapted screenplay, along with Ellen nabbing a nomination for her leading role.
Sequels and prequels of The Exorcist have been trialled over the years, but fans of the original have never been too keen on them, but these are set to be ignored when it comes to these new sequels.
A television series back in 2016 ran for two seasons, starring Geena Davis, and acted as a sequel to the films.
This isn't the only horror film news, Netflix is going for a $450m deal to retain the rights for the next two Knives Out films as well as the Scream franchise being relaunched by Paramount.
