Heading to U2? Here’s the weather, stage-times and set-list

It looks like it will be a Beautiful Day.

Rory Cashin

Maybe you’re one of the lucky “few” (ie tens of thousands) that nabbed a ticket to the U2 gig this Saturday in Croke Park.

In which case, we’ve got some deets you may want to be aware of.

First and foremost, how should you be dressed?

Shorts, or a raincoat? Or judging by the weather of late, somehow a mix of both? Well, according to the folks at Met Eireann, it will unfortunately be a bit of both, as they say we can expect it to be largely dry on Saturday with sunny spells, while a few showers will develop in the afternoon and evening. Temperature-wise, expect highs of 17 to 19C, with light easterly or variable breezes.

Next, what time to arrive?

Well, it depends on how much you like one of the Gallagher brothers, or if you’re just there for Bono and co.

The anticipated schedule for the day starts off with the gates open at 5pm, with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds expected to take the stage at 7pm, with the main attraction taking over from 8.30pm.

And finally, what songs can you expect to hear?

Well, a lot of you might want to be surprised by the set-list, so this should be the part where you stop reading, but if you’re still here, we shall continue on with the educated guessing of what will be played.

Since they kicked off the anniversary tour of The Joshua Tree album a few months back, there has been a lot set in stone, with a few changes here and there.

For example, the final song in their Berlin gig was a cover of The Beatles’ Rain, while their recent gig in Spain capped off with their new song The Little Things That Give You Away, from their forthcoming new album.

You’ll notice that songs five to 15 are The Joshua Tree, played entirely in sequential order, since that is the album at the centre of the whole world tour celebration.

We imagine this being their hometown they’ll play something special for the crowd, but here’s the common denominators so far:
