Ugly Betty might be returning to our screens after 11 years

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Everybody stay calm.

After 11 years off the air, the hit comedy series Ugly Betty could be returning to the small screen after one cast member made a slight slip up.

Rumours that the show is making a comeback have started doing the rounds online after an interview clip of Eric Mabius who played Daniel was asked about a possible reboot of the series.

Starring alongside America Ferrera as the title character, Eric played Daniel, the son of a wealthy publisher and through that got Betty a job as his PA.

Speaking to TV Tonight, Eric revealed maybe a little too much when it came to a potential reboot, saying: “I don’t know. There’s something being discussed, but I’m not at liberty to say. We had an abrupt ending and I think that we all felt that we didn’t have enough time to finish telling the stories that needed to be told.

“I think Ugly Betty was ahead of its time and I think that it would be more timely right now than ever.

“I continue to be proud of that, to be a part of such talent. It was probably the truest work family I’ve ever had.

“Hopefully with enough groundswell, they may even bring the show back for a little bit.”

Of course, fans of the four season series have latched onto this, and couldn’t be more excited about a potential reunion.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Binge watching Ugly Betty. I wish they reboot it. It’s hilarious. I missed watching it!”

Another said: “Successful, relevant, brilliant cast … give #UglyBetty a reboot with the same cast!”

A third wrote: “#UglyBetty exploded onto our screens with full of Red heart, with a sprinkle of sunshine Sun with rays, loaded with having only 4 seasons was simply not enough Reboot, Reboot!!!”

Whether it’s making its return or not, we need a lot of answers from this show.
