‘Ugly Betty’ could be the next TV show to get a reunion series

Brace yourselves...

There’s been talk of a reunion for the past few months – and now Ugly Betty’s leading lady has hinted that a comeback series could be on the cards.

America Ferrera became a star when she took on the lead role in the US comedy, which started airing 10 years ago this month. Ugly Betty ran for four seasons, ending in 2010.

Earlier this year, the cast of the show reunited for a 10th anniversary joint interview at the ATX Festival, which sent fans into a speculative frenzy: after all, this same festival reunited the cast of Gilmore Girls for the same purposes a few years ago, which resulted in Netflix commissioning a new run of episodes.

Now, fans are looking to Netflix, or streaming rival Hulu, to bring back Betty for a new run.

Ferrera was asked about the likelihood of a reunion series during an interview to promote her new series Superstore on Bravo TV’s Watch What Happens Live yesterday.

“That is a conversation that’s happening,” she replied. “It’s been six years since we’ve been off the air, and 10 since we shot the pilot. We had an Ugly Betty reunion [at the ATX Television Festival], and we sort of started a hashtag #HuluBringBackUglyBetty, which I think kind of made Hulu mad — but who cares?”

When pressed further on the chances of a new series being made, she said: “We’re having conversations. The more our fans make noise about it, the more likely it is, so keep it up!”

You heard the lady, Betty fans!

Meanwhile, Ferrera and her former Betty co-star Judith Light were reunited at the Emmy awards last weekend, and as you can tell from the picture below, they still seem tight.
