The most unrealistic thing ever happened on Corrie last night

Jade Hayden

Lol, OK.

Coronation Street is a fictional soap – we are all aware of this fact.

It makes sense then that not everything that happens on Coronation Street is going to be totally accurate and believable in the real world.

After all, over the past few months we’ve seen some lad (Phelan, alright, it’s Phelan) get away with murder approximately 87 times, seen Roy Cropper hop over a fence, and watched as someone (it was Phelan again OK, the whole show is about Phelan) literally swam to Ireland.

Yeah. It’s not the most realistic of programmes but we get over it like.

Last night though something so bizarre, so unlikely, and so shocking occurred that left viewers wondering what the hell writers were thinking when they included it in the script.

Craig attended a doctors appointment for his mental health on the same day that he went to organise one.

Yeah, we know. Shocking stuff.

The incredible scene came as Craig admitted to his friends and family that he had been suffering from OCD for a very long time.

After the police tried to knock his door down to check for clues regarding a murder (one of Phelan’s, probably), Craig was confronted by Bethany who convinced him to open up about his condition.

And fair play to him too – being open and honest about a mental illness is tough… and it’s even tougher when you then have to wait a load of time to see a doctor about it.

Lucky for Craig though, he didn’t.

He popped into his GP straight away and all was well, and Corrie viewers were left wishing that they could live in Weatherfield too to avail of healthcare so quickly.

Obviously, things are a bit different over here in Ireland where we don’t have the NHS.

While it may be possible to get a same-day GP appointment no bother, you’ll probably have to pay for it unless you’ve got a medical card.

If you’re trying to avail of mental health services, however, chances are you’re going to be waiting a bit longer.

So anyone moving to Weatherfield, or…?
