Dwayne Johnson takes on the law and a drug cartel in a bid to save his son from both in Snitch.
By Genna Patterson
Dwayne Johnson will always be The Rock to us. In fairness we wouldn’t be taking him on any time soon. In Snitch (how has this movie title not been used before?), he takes on a drug cartel and they don’t seem to be quivering in their boots.
Johnson plays the father of a son up on drug charges with the DEA. Refusing to let his son go down for a crime he didn't commit, Johnson makes a deal with them to go undercover and infiltrate a drug cartel. Using the ex-cons that work for his building firm as connections, Johnson gets deeper than he planned in an effort to save his son. But to save his son, he must risk his whole family.
Snitch has a stellar cast with Susan Sarandon as a United States attorney, Benjamin Bratt as a drug kingpin and John Bernthal (The Walking Dead’s Sean) as the connection between Johnson and the drug dealers.
Director Ric Roman Waugh co-wrote the screenplay for Snitch with Justin Haythe, who also penned Revolutionary Road and co-wrote the upcoming Johnny Depp movie, Lone Ranger.
Dwayne Johnson will also be starring in Pain and Gain with Mark Wahlberg, Fast and Furious 6 and G.I. Joe Retaliation this year. Busy man.
Snitch is released on April 5.
