High society doesn’t know what hit it.

The first trailer for Bridgerton, the new Netflix series dubbed the Gossip Girl of the nineteenth century, is here.

The series, starring Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls), Phoebe Dynevor (Waterloo Road) and Regé-Jean Page, follows Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market.

But that’s not all. In true gossip-heavy style, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown (voiced by none other than Julie Andrews) casts aspersions on Daphne – and pretty much everyone else too.

What follows is multiple bouts of scandal and seemingly shameful carrying on (kissing out of wedlock, shocking) as the women of high society do their best to navigate a culture that has far outdated their desires.

The first trailer for the Shondaland series just dropped today (December 14), and it, of course, looks absolutely delightful.

Bridgerton lands on Netflix on December 25. You can check out the full trailer below:
