"How we treated her was disgusting."

The trailer for the upcoming documentary about the Free Britney movement is here.

Framing Britney Spears is a new film from Hulu as part of their latest investigative series, The New York Times Presents.

Detailing Spears' early career, her conservatorship under her father's control, and the subsequent Free Britney movement, the documentary will delve into Britney's life, the legal ramifications of her conservatorship, and the control she has lived with for most of her life.

Britney does not appear in the documentary herself, but her fans do. For years they have been shouting about the Free Britney movement, raising awareness of the star's conservatorship situation, and the hold it has had on not just her finances, but her career too.

Last year, Britney's lawyers argued that the singer "continues to move in the direction of greater autonomy," and would prefer "to work with a corporate fiduciary who can offer both a physical office and a team of independent financial professionals rather than a single individual, hand-picked by her father, who is a complete stranger to her."

Spears has put her career on hold while she fights her conservator case. Her father has been her conservator since 2008, giving him the power to control most of her life and career decisions, as well as her finances.

The role was appointed during Britney's struggle with her mental health. Such rulings are reserved for people who cannot manage their own lives due to physical or mental limitations. According to legal documents, Britney agrees that a conservator should be appointed, she just doesn't want her father to be it.

Framing Britney Spears speaks to members of the Free Britney movement about the impact these legal battle will have on the star's career going forward, as well as her ability to live a more independent life.

Framing Britney Spears will be released on February 5. You can check out the trailer below or by following this link.
