What’s That About a ‘Love/Hate’ Movie?!

"You wouldn't rule it out...it's possible," said creator Stuart Carolan.

Our favourite Dubliners could well be hitting the big screen as Love/Hate creator Stuart Carolan has revealed that the hit RTÉ drama could be turned into a film.

In an interview this week, the writer admitted that it’s possible that Nidge and the boys could come to a cinema near you, though not anytime soon unfortunately.

“A Love/Hate feature-length film? Eh, not immediately, no. It’s hard enough just to do this (the series) as it is. We work pretty hard on it…you wouldn’t rule it (a movie) out I suppose…it’s possible,” he told Ian Dempsey on Today FM.

‘Possible’ is good enough for us! The hit show returns to our screens this Sunday evening, where Carolan added that something big is going to happen with Siobhan this week, as her plot of revenge against Nidge deepens.

He also said that things are about to get worse for the show’s leading characters and that there are some unexpected deaths just around the corner (no..we can’t cope with more!).

Looking ahead, Carolan acknowledged that he has started work on the sixth season, but remained tight-lipped about any further developments.

“We have a development deal in place at the moment with RTÉ for a sixth one, but beyond that I can’t say anything else,” he explained. “I never thought it (the show) would be this successful. I’m very proud of it, a lot goes into making it. The people of the production team are magnificent.”
