It was a decent show with an even more decent podcast behind it, a story that covered everything from lying husbands to scamming boyfriends to entirely fabricated lives. The Netflix series was good, but the podcast was better as it delved into the real lives of John's victims, giving audiences somewhat of a chance to understand why they had stuck by him for so long. John's story, however, is not a unique one. There are plenty of men out there just like him, willing to cheat, lie, and steal, leaving an intense trail of destruction in their wake. One of those men is Hamish Watson/McLaren/whatever he felt like calling himself at that specific moment in time. Born in Sydney and ruining lives left, right, and centre across Australia, the UK, and Asia, the conman managed to steal upwards of $7 million from those who were unfortunate enough to trust him. Who The Hell Is Hamish? is a new podcast from The Australian, the publication who brought audiences the intense and deeply disturbing The Teacher's Pet.  Presented by journalist Greg Bearup, the series talks to the people Hamish has burned, following his trail of destruction as he bankrupts families, destroys marriages, and moves onto the next unsuspecting victim before his eventual arrest. The above is not a spoiler, but rather an inevitability when you consider the sheer amount of shady behaviour that this guy has been engaging in for years. Hamish is due to be sentenced some time later this year, and until then his victims are making it their priority to ensure that everybody knows exactly what he did.
