That. Was. EMOTIONAL.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – the older couples on First Dates Ireland absolutely make the show.
On Tuesday night’s show we met daters Pat, a 71-year-old retired crane operator and Maureen, 68, who worked at Dublin’s Jacobs factory, and we haven’t stopped smiling since, to be honest.
The pair got on like a house on fire in the restaurant and also opened up about losing their spouses.
Maureen’s husband died aged just 38, while Pat was married to his wife for 47 years before losing her unexpectedly a number of years ago.
“The worst thing that can happen to anybody is not getting to say goodbye, that’s the saddest part” he said.
At this point, everyone watching at home happened to have something in their eye at the same time.
Pat is breaking my heart, he speaks so beautifully about his late wife #FirstDatesIRL

I think I need a long therapy session after listening to Pat’s story. Heartbreaking. #FirstDatesIRL

As the date ended, Pat and Maureen were caught whispering to one another and both said they’d be happy to see each other again.
There was more though – Pat then began serenading Maureen with ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, at which point we all lost it.

Along with the rest of the nation, Pat’s daughter paid tribute to her dad on Twitter last night.
So proud of you Dad ❤ #FirstDatesIRL pic.twitter.com/0kbKYzsFtP

Unfortunately, Pat and Maureen haven’t met up again since their date.
Still, here’s a clip of the pair dancing as Pat sings. It’s too much.
Can’t get enough of Pat and Maureen from tonight’s #FirstDatesIRL?
