A woman has been blocked on Twitter by JK Rowling after sending her a tweet questioning why Johnny Depp was starring in the new Fantastic Beasts movie.

Twitter user Lindsey asked the author why the actor has “a major role” in her movies even though he “abused his wife.”

Depp was accused of domestic abuse by Amber Heard in 2016.

Heard alleged that Depp had been “verbally and physically abusive” to her throughout their relationship and she filed for divorce.

Heard was granted a restraining order against Depp which she later dismissed.

Harry Potter fan Lindsey found herself blocked from viewing Rowling’s tweets after she sent the author the following:

She wrote:

“So if I understand correctly the actor who played Crabbe, a minor character, was fired from Harry Potter for doing drugs. Yet Johnny Depp, who abused his wife, gets a major role in your movies? Correct me if I’m wrong, @jkrowling.”

Lindsey was soon blocked from viewing Rowling’s tweets.

The fan went on to say that this was the first time that Rowling had ever reacted to one of her tweets.

She also questioned why the author would choose to block her when she only “tagged her in one f*cking tweet.”

Fantastic Beasts director David Yeats previously defended his decision to cast Depp in the film.

He said that Heard’s allegation “doesn’t tally with the kind of human I’ve been working with.”
