All hail Patty Jenkins.

And the records just keep on coming.

Wonder Woman has broken yet another record for women in film.

This week it became the highest grossing live-action film directed by a woman overtaking the eye-watering record of $609.8 million.

That record was set by Phyllida Lloyd’s Mamma Mia! which has now been surpassed by Patty Jenkins’ huge hit.

“It’s an incredible achievement when you look at the success of this movie,” President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Jeff Golstering told HuffPost of the new record.

This new milestone might have been predicted by many after the movie became the biggest opening for a female director ever when it opened in cinemas in early June.

One woman who is shocked by the success is the woman at the helm, Patty Jenkins.

“I’m stunned by the success of the film. But I’m also surprised how rare it’s been,” she told TIME.
