Downtown Abbey has been confirmed for a sixth season much to the delight of Downton fans across the country.
The newly-confirmed season will hit TV screens late next year and will continue to follow the trials and tribulations of the Crawley family and their servants.
“The whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show,” said Gareth Neame, Executive Producer.
Meanwhile, Steve November, Director of Drama at ITV added, “It’s fantastic that Downton continues to be such a phenomenon. We don’t yet know what Julian (Fellowes) has planned, but we’re looking forward to working with him, the fantastic cast and Carnival (Films) again and have no doubt series six will be unmissable.”
It has also been reported that Matthew Goode – of The Good Wife fame – will play the role of yet another suitor of Lady Mary, though the cast for the new season has not been confirmed.
