Ahead of the final, the Dubliner was third favourite to win. Although something of a long shot at the start of the week, Ryan has found himself behind just Cyprus and Israel.

On Tuesday, Ryan told the Eurovision cameras backstage at the semis how it was impossible to describe the feeling of being called up for the final.
“I think I speak for us all when I say that I’m so happy other countries can understand what we’re trying to do here. We’re trying to make a little bit of a change, let people see that love is love.
“Other countries have seen that, so I’m just so happy that other people feel what we feel.”
