Zac Efron has opened up about his recent drug and alcohol addition, saying “It’s a never-ending struggle” that he battles with every day.

The former High School Musical star, who now attends Alcoholics Anonymous and sees a therapist, told The Hollywood Reporter about his struggle to control his addiction. Talking about his decision to ask for help, the star said:

“And I think it’s [therapy] changed my life. I’m much more comfortable in my own skin. Things are so much easier now.”

The actor’s substance abuse stemmed from a self-imposed isolation from friends and family, where he was living out of his suitcase and trying to cope with the pressures of his fame by hiding in his work:

“I was just so deep into my work. It was really the only thing I had. I clung to it in a way that became a little bit destructive.”

Since a stint in rehab, Efron is focussing on self-improvement, revealing he keeps calm by working out, reading books and screenplays, collecting vinyl records and listening to Spotify.

Definitely a change to the rock’n’roll lifestyle. Good to see he’s back on the mend.
