There’s officially a reality show for EVERYTHING now. The US Lifetime network have announced they will be airing a reality show based on women who decide to give birth in the wild - away from any doctors or hospital intervention.
Born in the Wild will track young parents who have opted for a more unique birthing process, following the pregnant women as they go through the labour and delivery process au-natural.
The show is rumoured to be inspired by a YouTube clip that showed a woman giving birth in a tropical creek, but has come under backlash with critics and healthcare professionals claiming it could endanger mothers and their offspring.
The Lifetime network says the show's subjects may not be first-time parents and will be closely monitored by crews.
Lifetime Senior Vice President Eli Lehrer told
Entertainment Weekly:
“We’re taking extreme precautions to make sure the mothers and the babies are safe.
“Our presence at these births is going to make them far safer than if they were doing it on their own.”
Let’s just hope they’re not born to be wild.
