Alright, so.
There are plenty of reason as to why somebody might want to leave their partner.
They could have cheated on them. They could be into somebody else. They could be just bored of the relationship and ready to move on.
See? Loads of reasons.
Relationships end all the time. Sometimes they just fizzle out and you’re both left wondering where it all went wrong.
Other times they collapse in a blaze of cruel comments and nasty sub-tweets.
And then there’s the few times that they end because your partner washed your hand-wash only underwear in the washing machine.
Or the no times… because that has probably not happened, ever.
One person who is considering it though is Mumsnet user, ‘Sprinklestar.’
She took to the parenting forum to say that she was thinking about leaving her husband because he “ruined” he underwear.
No really, that was the reason she gave.
The anonymous woman wrote:
“Ok, sounds dramatic, right?
“But… We have been together years, known each other forever. Today, yet again, he washed my hand wash only underwear in the machine and ruined it. I have lost count of the number of times he has done this.
“It is just such a waste and will need replacing. We must have had this scenario every year for the past ten.
“It’s like that thing on the internet about the man whose wife left him over a cup left on the side, its the constant drip drip drip effect and never learning.
“I can’t stand his incompetence anymore. How hard is it to check a label? And not mess with the stuff in the separate handwash only basket?!
“I am so angry.”
You sure sound it, girl.
There are a few things to unpack from this post.
The first is that what this woman has described is absolutely super annoying and irritating and, indeed, a waste.
The second is that if she is literally considering leaving her husband because of this, there is definitely something else going on (or not going on) in this relationship that she is withholding.
… Because people don’t just leave people for ruining their underwear, people leave people because they cannot stand them anymore and the underwear was simply the last straw.
In response to a few comments, Sprinklestar went on to explain that this was actually part of a “bigger problem” and that the underwear situation was very much “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
The unnamed woman has yet to confirm whether she’s made her decision or not.
We just hope her husband stays away from her washing in the meantime.
