10 Dublin restaurants with outdoor areas we’ll be hitting up for the foreseeable

Cassie Stokes

Dining out inside was good while it lasted, but now it’s all about dining out outside.

Yes, Dublin restaurants have had to close their doors again but no, that doesn’t mean we have to stop dining out. We can still support local by booking a table and perching ourselves outside a restaurant.

Some restaurants have been lucky and have areas outside the front or back that they can turn into an al fresco dining space so they can stay open. These times really do make you grateful for outdoor space and mild weather.

So, here are some of our picks on where you should book and take a seat while supporting local.

Woollen Mills

This has a gorgeous space upstairs and when the sun is out it’s even better. But don’t worry if it rains, they do have a cover so you can dine here over the next three weeks all you like.

El Silencio

This place is one of Dublin’s hidden restaurants that you probably haven’t heard of but now I’ve told you and you will want to book in some time here.

It’s located just off South William street above Pablo Picante’s burrito place and was a little secret bar. Now they’ve had to move to the streets making it not so much a secret anymore, but still definitely worth booking in.

Sprezzatura

Finally, some spritz-worthy weather!

One of the new restaurants to hit town last year, Sprezzatura do delicious pasta and drinks – and now they do it all outside on the street, which makes things even cooler if you ask me.

Very NYC.

Farmer Browns

This location in Rathmines has a perfect seating area for a nice al fresco dinner, heaters and all.

The wings are delicious and the staff are lovely, so definitely worth popping by here for date night… or any night.

The Well

Located right beside the Luas at Stephen’s Green, this is a spot you will want to hit up for a few drinks… and their pizza is also top class.

A great spot to sit outside, with loads of plants… and also an ideal location to perch and people watch.

The Belfry

One of Stoneybatter’s favourite pubs has had to close its doors again but they are lucky to have a cute outdoor area around the side.

The fairy lights outside are also very cute.

Bowls by Kwanghi

Located in Glasthule, you will want to make it your business to try this place out.

If all restaurants had this set up we’d be happily sitting outside all year round. The food is delicious and the set up is highly Instagrammable.

Boco Pizza

Boco are lucky they have a quiet lane beside the restaurant, and you can book a table and enjoy some of their delicious pizzas al fresco, as the Italians would have wanted it.

The Porthouse Dundrum

A great spot for delicious tapas and they have a fully heated garden out the back where you can chill with some small plates and wine.

They have also opened up some seating at the front of the restaurant too. Sorted.

Go for the wings and stay for the outdoor seats and buzz in Ranelagh.

This place is usually busy with locals so you might want to book well in advance before heading in.
